$247 Md Roof Repair Special - Fix Roof Leaks for 38% Less

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

One of our customers in Dunkirk, Maryland was experiencing a roof leak around his attic fan, so he decided to take advantage of our roof repair special

http://www.homerestorationsmd.com/monthly-roofing-special.html .

A thorough roof inspection revealed wind-torn shingles just above the fan, easily repaired by Home Restorations Roofing, and eight (that’s right, eight!) pipe collars needing attention.

This video shows one of the hidden dangers of using plastic pipe collars; they tend to deform with sunlight and heat, resulting in leaks that expose the roof deck to damage.

We find faulty pipe collars to be the number one cause of roof leaks homes of all ages. This particular roof, only a few years old, needed service on all eight collars — and three were leaking because they were installed incorrectly.

Our “tip of the day” is to be aware that pipe collars on home roofs need inspection at frequent intervals to avoid costly damage from water leaks. Talk to your licensed roofing professional today and get an inspection and essment of the condition of your pipe collars.

In Maryland, we’ll be happy to help — just check us out at http://www.HomeRestorationsMD.com .

Maryland Hail Damage: Roof Storm Repair Insurance Claims

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

The Northeast has developed some unusual weather patterns lately. In Maryland, for example, recent heavy storms, loaded with hail, and a tornado or two have caused major damage to homes and businesses.

If you’ve experienced hail lately, it’s important to have an expert look over your roofing, siding, and guttering for damage. Many homeowners are unaware they have damage that may be covered by their homeowner’s insurance.

It’s important, however, especially with roofing — to make sure that the “expert” is trained in identifying actual damage. Most roofing contractors don’t know what to look for and won’t be able to help you properly file a claim and get your money.

Choosing a contractor that has experience dealing with insurance companies can be a huge advantage; most homeowners don’t have this type of experience and often don’t have any idea what is covered, what the actual damages are, or how to get the money they deserve from the insurance policy they have PAID for.

If you think (even if there’s an outside chance) you may have damage, do your research, contact a PRO, and get the real scoop — you could save a lot of money, headaches, and restore the value of your HOME.

http://www.HomeRestorationsMD.com

One last thing: In areas that have obvious storm damage, beware of “storm chasers” — companies that seem to “pop up out of nowhere”, do some quick repairs, and then disappear. Always check to make sure your contractor is licensed, insured, and has some good, solid references, offers before-during-after photos, and signs a detailed written contract for your protection.

New Roof Estimate: Md Roofing Services in Upper Marlboro

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

Another digital roof estimate performed by http://www.MdRoofingServices.com (Home Restorations) reveals a 5/12 pitch roof with 3-tab shingles manufactured by Owens Corning which have reached the end of their service life. Many shingles are missing, some repairs have been made, and there is evidence of subroofing damage in spots. Subroofing is 1/2″ CDX plywood. The seamless aluminum gutters are in good shape and will require only cleaning and tightening once the roof is replaced.

New roof installation will include: removing the existing shingles and tarpaper, inspecting all plywood for damage, repairing only where necessary, and installing custom made aluminum drip edge at eave and rake edges.

Roofing will include installation of Certainteed WinterGuard “Ice and Water Shield”, Berger UDL Synthetic Underlayment, Certainteed Shingle Vent II Ridge Vent System, new custom formed aluminum chimney flashing sealed with Geocel Tripolymer Sealant, new neoprene and aluminum pipe collar flashings, and the suggestion of either Certainteed’s Horizon Brand Architectural Shingle, or the Landmark Dimensional Shingle Model.

Complete Maryland Roofing Estimates for either New Roof Installations or Residential Roof Repairs, which include before-during-after photos, video, drawings, helpful advice, and a detailed written contract can be requested here: http://www.HomeRestorationsMD.com/Maryland_Roof_Estimate.html

Md Roof Repair Prince Georges County, Maryland

Monday, December 8th, 2008

http://www.HomeRestorationsMd.com

Welcome to another Roof Leak Inspection and Repair Video by Home Restorations of Maryland.

This beautiful Old Historic Home in Prince Georges County, Maryland is the subject of our video. First, it’s noted that the 10/12 roof pitch is “unwalkable” — safety measures are required.

Basically, normal roofing maintenance items are discovered: 3 Old Pipe Collars, several missing shingles, a few minor “nail pops”, and some hairline cracking in the copper chimney flashings.

One minor roof leak in a vent directly over an upstairs bathroom is confirmed. Shingles will be replaced around the exterior fan cover and then sealed with Geocel Tripolymer Sealant.

We identified the shingles as Certainteed’s by the “secret information strip” located under the shingle. This strip also gives information relative to the factory “run” numbers — aiding in possible warranty claim information.

Check out the follow up to this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvaWA_4eJGI
