It only takes one unfortunate incident to destroy a home, property, or place of business. Home and property owners expect their insurance companies to provide coverage in the event of a disaster. After all, that’s what insurance companies are for, right? Although insurance companies are supposed to provide adequate coverage to their policy holders, sometimes they fail to do this. If your home, property, or place of business has been damaged by fire, water, or a storm, and your insurance company will not provide you with the coverage you deserve, then it’s important to contact an experienced insurance attorney as soon as possible.

At Martindale Law Group, we represent property owners whose insurance companies refuse to provide them with the coverage they need to repair the damage to their home, property, or place of business. Whether a client’s insurance claim as been denied, delayed, or under valued, our team of aggressive and experience insurance attorneys can help.

Chicken Little Pluto Leaky Roof - part one

Friday, January 30th, 2009

Chicken Little Ace in Action
Pluto - Leaky Roof

Time to play as Abby in her hover ship. Oh joy…

Trying to make the ship go up and down in this game is a real pain. By moving the Nunchuck up and down is how you control the movements but, sometimes the smallest movement will move it and other times I find myself shaking the thing to try to get it to move. Also by tilting the Nunchuck back and forward it changes perspective which I happen to find myself doing quite a lot. It would have been much simpler if the joystick was just used to control the ENTIRE ship, instead of only left and right.

Who responsible for possible damage to my roof?

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

We had a neighbor tree branch fall on are roof. The tree is dying partially. The branch that fell down was dead. The neighbor knows it dying. They even had the dead branches cut down over their roof. The tree is 100 % percent on their property. The limbs, some dead are over are roof. If there is any damage, who is responsible? There was no storm or wind at the time it happened. We have to wait tell Monday 8-06-07 to see if there was any roof damage.

Can you also make the neighbor cut down the tree because you are afraid it could be life threating?

I am afraid if we hire someone to cut the dead branches out, she would sue us. The neighbor is very uncooperative.

We live in Indiana.

Sorry if wrong category.
Now, I even more confused. Some say I am, others say the neighbor is. Does anyone know Indiana state law. Are there any laws governing dangerous trees that are not on your own property?

For the other poster, Indiana small claims court is up to $3,000.

the law is anything that hangs over a property line it becomes your property. You can cut it, pick the fruit what ever. If is falls on your house, your insurance pays for the damages.

My car had some minor damages due to hurricane ike. I filed a claim through my insurance company.?

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

And they told me that I had a $500 deductible. I thought that only applies if I got into a wreck and it was my fault. I’ve heard from friends that they didn’t have to pay a deductible. I am not working right now and cannot pay $500. It was not my fault that the hurricane hit Houston.

Your deductible is the amount that you agree to self-insure for. It is not a punishment from your insurance company although most people think it is. With your deductible you have basically agreed to take care of the first $500 EVERY TIME something goes on with your vehicle.

The only time I have seen a comprehensive deductible waived is with a windshield claim and that is usually with a repair. if it’s replaced there is usually a ded to pay. I do know there are about 8 states that offer a glass waiver. I do not believe Texas is one of them.

I hope everything else is okay with your and your family. The devestation in Houston/Galveston is horrific.

I wish you and your family well.

How are you helping the forgotten victims of Hurricane Ike?

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

Did you know that there are many still suffering in the wake of Hurricane Ike? While the Houston/Galveston area was hit hard by Ike, it truly pales in comparison to the devastation seen on the Bolivar Peninsula and Bridge City Texas. In Bridge City, a population of over 8000, only 14 homes did not sustain significant damage from Hurricane Ike’s massive storm surge. What have you done to help and can you do more?

wonder - While I understand your concerns about where the money goes, I also think if you take a look at what we have already done on a measly budget you will see that we are working to get the relief where it is needed, by those that need it most. That is why we are concentrating on the outlying areas as opposed to the Houston/Galveston area which has received most of the media attention and relief from larger organizations.
mysti-Thanks, and I think you are correct that the election coverage has overshadowed the impact of Ike. I also think that the media's neglect to cover areas like Bridge City and the Bolivar Peninsula have allowed people to believe that it was not a very devastating storm.

I deal with Hurricanes yearly living on the Gulf Coast. Why after there were warnings and evacuations did so MANY stay?i don’t understand that.I realize it cost money to go to hotels and take dogs and evacuation places were not really available to those people …but why did they not leave ???i know three people from that rea they all coudl afford to leave and not one did?they wanted to ride it out??
We do not take chances with our family we leave..
